Peli Peli South African Restaurant

About last night! I had the pleasure of enjoying the Peli Peli South African Restaurant in the Houston Galleria with my friends and colleagues from The Sphere TV. I love the Peli Peli Experience! It is not just the delicious foods, the perfectly paired wines, the exceptional staff and the great conversation keep me coming back to this place!

We had a bunch of different dishes and shared them so that we could taste all that Peli Peli has to offer. You could call it a sampler however; we did WAY more than sample. I chowed down and enjoyed every moment. Here we go!

Appetizers:

South African Wings

Biltong Mac and Cheese

Chilean Sea Bass Stuffed Mushrooms

The appetizers were paired with the Freedom Chardonnay. Vince, the manager here did an amazing job telling this wine's story. This Chardonnay was one of my favorites. Artwork on the label by David Garibaldi, by the way.

Main Course:

Beef Espetada

Kingklip Fish

Curry Chicken

The food was SO good that I forgot to take a pic of the wine...can you believe that? However, I can tell you that it was a Grenache and paired perfectly with my favorite, the Espetada, brussel sprouts and potatoes. It is hard to choose favorites at Peli Peli but if I just had to pick, this would be it!

Dessert:

Sticky Toffee Pudding

Chocolate Mousse Cake

Cheesecake

Desserts were paired with a dessert wine and Traditional South African Drink, Malawi Shandy.

Overall, Peli Peli has quickly become one of my favorite places for Happy Hour, Lunch and Dinner! I have not tried their brunch yet so stayed tuned.
